Jamil's Marriage Prospects

Heh, as if those words all belong in the same sentence/heading anyway! o_O;; So why did I do this? I don't know, but it sure was fun! And hey, it also gives you a little more insight as to the type of person Jamil really is aside from the regular bio, as I have a little more freedom with this in terms of my opinions. Oh, and props to Mina-chan of Silent Voice for inspiring this tidbit of fangirl-ish idiocy, since the one she did for Garrod was what made me want to do this in the first place. :P

Looks/Appearance: Not quite the stereotypical "tall, dark, and handsome" type, but replace "dark" with "mysterious," and you’ve got a pretty good fit. Time has been very good to him judging by this 30-year-old’s mature, well-built frame; if you’ve seen the photograph of how adorable he looked at 15 years old, it’s easy to see that he has aged well. His light brown hair is cut relatively short with medium-length bangs and thick, forward-swept sideburns framing his well-defined facial features, giving him a clean-cut but still rough and masculine look. If you can actually convince him to take off those ever-present but very stylish dark sunglasses (which in themselves add an air of mystery and all-around coolness), you’ll find the warmest, most handsome brown eyes you’ve probably ever seen, and there quite likely won‘t be any turning back from there (hmm, maybe that’s why he always has to keep them hidden! ^_~). Oh, and did I mention that the "chicks dig scars" stereotype applies quite well here too?

Intelligence: It almost goes without saying that he has pretty high intelligence; I doubt he’d be the captain of a Vulture landship if he didn’t. If you’re also a well-read individual, expect your conversations on hot-button issues and the like to be long and thought-provoking; if the two of you ever hit it off, this may be the way it happens. Though he's usually not that talkative, he does seem to have a way with words. And it’s quite apparent that he has a very good memory too; even after not having piloted a mobile suit for around 15 years, he was able to get back into the cockpit and pilot an MS as if he’d never stopped. If in a sticky situation, he is slow to anger and will generally think things out first before taking any necessary action. This may come in very handy if you ever hit a snag in your relationship in one way or another.

Personality: If only one word could be used to describe Jamil, "stoic" would without a doubt be the best way to do so. Though once happy-go-lucky as a boy (much like Garrod), it’s obvious that he was deeply traumatized by the events of the 7th Space War, and that personality has completely vanished. Now 15 years later, he seldom shows any kind of open emotions (if you can get him to smile or even laugh, mark that on your calendar, because it doesn’t happen too often!), and interaction with others is typically only out of necessity. As a result, he has a very private and solitary nature, and rarely likes to discuss personal issues; avoid talking about the war too often, because it could stir up many of those bad memories that have made him who he is now. Getting him to open up to will be quite a challenge to anyone who wishes to seek him out on a personal level, as he is often oblivious to the fact that anyone might even be interested in him in that manner. But even still, he is fiercely determined to seek out and protect Newtypes because of the traumas he had experienced in once being a Newtype himself, and he will also do anything to make sure that no harm befalls any member of his ship’s crew along the way. If you’re at all able to get him to open up, expect him to be fiercely protective of you too.

Home Economics: No one knows for sure what his upbringing was, but it’s assumed that as a boy before the war, he did have a home and family in which he learned many of the basics. But directly after the war, it’s quite likely that he had to fend for himself before joining any of the Vulture groups, so the basics probably aren‘t a problem no matter which way you look at it. However, with being a captain now, he may be more accustomed to having other people doing much of the "dirty work" (i.e. cooking, cleaning, etc.) and/or having certain things readily available at a moment‘s notice, so it may take some getting used to on his part provided that he would eventually want to settle down to begin with. Cleanliness shouldn’t be much of a problem either, as when looking at his quarters aboard the Freeden, everything is well-organized. Then again, just by looking at the way he dresses, one wouldn’t think of him as a slob anyway.

Combat Skills: He was an ace Gundam pilot for the Earth Federation forces during the war, so he is already well-trained in both hand-to-hand and mobile suit combat. Following the war, it’s possible that he had to learn even more about self-defense due to mercenaries and the all-around anarchic society. Because he is slow to anger, he is rarely all that violent with anyone, but when it comes to self-defense, he is quite handy with a gun and can deliver a punch or kick that could impress even the most experienced martial arts masters. Even at 30, his fighting reflexes haven't dulled one bit. At the controls of a mobile suit, his fighting style is fluid and methodical, never rushing headlong into a battle and always thinking things through before making an attack. As said before, even after 15 years of being away from mobile suit battles, he can still show why he was an ace pilot during the war, but prefers to take more of a defensive role than offensive in a battle unless provoked by the enemy, and will also fight to defend his crew and allies no matter the cost. Add to the fact that he pilots the versatile yet noble-looking Gundam X Divider, and you certainly have a knight in shining armor who’ll fight to the death to protect you.

Special Abilities: There isn’t too much to say here. He was once a Newtype at 15, but he has since lost the majority of those abilities (how this happened is still unknown), and so trying to use them now can be very painful. Perhaps his levelheaded-ness could be considered a special ability?

Competition: Surprisingly, there isn’t much competition at all, but you will have to be extremely wary of Sala Tyrrell, Freeden’s second-in-command. She is clearly very intent on pursuing Jamil for herself and makes it pretty obvious to everyone else that she wants him, but he really doesn’t see her as anything more than just his second-in-command if anything else. But even still, because of her serious and persistent nature, odds are that she will become jealous of you if you even think of trying to pursue him yourself; if you’re successful, it will probably take quite a while before she will finally accept the fact that she’s lost. Also, expect to hear a lot about a woman named Lucille Lilliant, Jamil’s former instructor and superior while in the Federation forces several years ago. Though she’s no longer alive, it’s obvious that he once carried a torch for her (and possibly still does even after her death, as he has an occasional tendency to dwell on the past a bit too much), but it’s not specifically known what his actual relationship was with her aside from the fact that they were once friends (although it was still enough to make Sala considerably jealous when she found out). If you can help him finally get over Lucille’s death, you may just have a chance.

In-Laws: You probably wouldn’t have to worry about any, as any family he might’ve had was most likely killed during the colony drop at the end of the war. The closest you’ll get is the Freeden crew themselves. You may get a little ribbing from the likes of Garrod, Toniya, Roybea, Witz, and Kid, among others, but given who your partner is, they’ll probably reserve most of their comments and/or jokes . . . or even think of you as some kind of "miracle girl" in that you could actually get him to open up to you in the first place. As mentioned before, Sala may not take to it all that well right away and may give you some grief about it personally when he‘s not around, but if she deems you to be an appropriate match for him, she’ll probably leave you alone after a while and let bygones be bygones. Everyone else will most likely just treat you like a part of their surrogate family without any teasing.

Finances: Being a Vulture captain probably pays very well what with selling recovered mobile suits and the like, so you will quite likely be well off for a while yet. But if the two of you ever decide to settle down and get away from the Vulture way of life, it’s uncertain what he would do after that, as he doesn’t show too many other skills outside of both that and piloting mobile suits. However, given his background with being in the military several years ago as well as his current quest to protect Newtypes, he may try to pursue positions related to either politics or law, both of which are typically high-paying careers.

Sex: Given his personality, would he even know what this is? :P Seriously though, if you even approached him on this topic, he would most likely be extremely uncomfortable about it at first, as he’s probably completely inexperienced with it despite his age. You’d most likely have to earn all of his trust before he would even want to be intimate with you, if at all, but if you can get him to take that next step, he would probably be very gentle and careful not to hurt you in any way while still making it pleasurable for both of you.

Overall: Two words here: Good luck! But really, if you have what it takes to crack through that hardened exterior, chances are that he’ll be completely faithful to you and you alone and will treat you with the utmost respect. Sure, he may not be your stereotypical bishounen type, but whoever said that older men couldn't be appreciated either?
